Chapter, invite you to the Learning Centre’s fourth workshop in Mumbai
on Performance Management.
The distance organizations need to
travel from ‘Good’ to ‘Great’ depend a lot on their ability to deliver
sustained business performance that creates a win-win for all key
stakeholders. A key enabler to this is a robust Performance Management
system that motivates employees to take stretch goals and reward them
for the meaningful contributions. When effectively implemented
Performance Management Systems can mobilize the human energy in an
organization and achieve breakthrough performance.
The objective of this functional technical competence module is to
equip students with the knowledge and skills in effectively
implementing performance management systems.

Who should attend?
The program will be designed for HR Practitioners with 3-7 years work
experience and is a must for human resource managers/professionals who
want to bring a about a positive change and better improve the
performance of their organization, using the correct techniques and
principles of performance management.
The Faculty: Mr. Vijayan Pankajakshan- Faculty Member-HR, WE Business School (Ex Director HR-CHEP)
Vijayan, in more ways than one, has had a different set of experiences,
in his 25 year professional career. He commenced his career with
Hindustan Ciba Geigy( now Novartis ) and was the youngest member of the
Management team that negotiated two settlements , covering over 1600
workmen based in Mumbai and the all India group of 300 plus Medical
Representatives. He was trained in the execution of a world class 10
day Management Development programme for fast trackers, GEMTRAK( from
Ciba, Basle) and was sent twice to Osaka and Singapore. The third
edition of this program was successfully executed in India ,by India HR
and was appreciated.
Vijayan then moved to Bombay Oil Industries( now Marico ) in 1990. He
was an integral part of the HR team that worked extensively on
organisational transformation from a low profile entrepreneurial
company to a full fledged strong FMCG player, that it is today. He has
worked extensively on Vision and Value building, Performance Management
Processes, HRD approaches to Emplyee Relations and also contributed to
talent pipeline development from B Schools, Engineering Colleges and
lateral hires. He also led the TQM implementation for the company and
was instrumental in laying the foundations of a Total Quality culture,
anchored in attitude and results.Marico, in 1994, was given the award
for Best HR practices by NHRDN.Vijayan rounded off his career with
Marico by being the first HR professional to be job rotated to head a
170 employee factory in Palakkad, Kerala. At this plant, breakthrough
HR practices were embedded and this has led to the unit being trouble
free for over 19 years now.
Vijayan had a four year overseas stint in the UAE( IFFCO:Sharjah ) and
worked with a large conglomerate as the second seniormost HR
functionary and followed this up with a HR Head role for the Market
Research firm, ACNielsen. Since returning to India in 2005, Vijayan has
worked as Head- HR in Mahindra Infrastructure Development Sector,
Head-HR- Mahindra Retail project and his last corporate role was
Director HR at the Indian affiliate of the 4 Billion USD MNC, Brambles.
Since Decembert 1st, Vijayan has moved out of industry and is now a Faculty Member-HR at the WE Business School, Mumbai.
Mr Gangadhar Mutathi-Specialist, Performance Management
Mr Gangadhar Mutathi has over 18 years of experience in the areas of
human resources consulting and corporate strategy. Mr Mutathi has
worked in leadership roles with two of the world’s most well known HR
consulting firms, and with a globally leading information technology
services company. His areas of specialization include organization
design, organizational change and effectiveness management,
compensation and benefits, performance management, competency mapping,
e-HR, and mergers and acquisitions. In all of these areas, Mr Mutathi
brings practical experience of designing, communicating and
implementing an organization’s business performance management and
review system. Mr Mutathi has studied business management at the Xavier
Labour Relations Institute (XLRI), and engineering from the National
Institute of Technology - Suratkal.
