| HISTORY |
Some Business organisations in India
have taken the lead in designing and implementing
HRD through various mechanisms such as performance
appraisal, job rotation, counseling and feedback along
with potential development, training, organisational
development, career planning and job enrichment programs.
The experiences of such organizations enrich our understanding
of the process and complexities involved in HRD. Recognising
the need for sharing these experiences and learning
from each other, some HRD professionals got together
at a national seminar held in Bombay in February 1985.
By the end of the seminar, they felt that the HRD
movement should be strengthened by an institutional
body that could provide a forum for interacting among
HRD professionals. Thus the National HRD Network was
formed.
|
| The National
HRD Network is an association of professionals committed
in promoting the HRD movement in the country. It is
non-profit organisation dedicated to developing human
resources through education, training, research and
experience sharing. |
| |
| PHILOSOPHY |
| The underlying
philosophy of the Network is that every human being
has the potential to do remarkable things. However,
organisations often fail to tap human potential due
to their pre-occupation with short term results. The
HRD movement has been started to focus the attention
of organisations and concerned individuals on how to
optimise human resources. |
| |
| In the organisational context ,HRD
is a process by which employees of an organisation are
continually helped in a planned way : |
 |
To acquire
capabilities required to perform various tasks
associated with their present or future roles |
 |
To develop
their general capabilities as individuals so that
they are able to discover and utilize their inner
potential for self and organisational growth. |
 |
To develop
an organisational culture where superior-subordinate
relationships, teamwork and collaboration among
different sub-units are strong and contribute
to organisational health and individual well-being. |
|
| In the national
context ,HRD is a process by which people are helped
to acquire new competencies continuously so as to make
them more self-reliant ; and simultaneously develop
self esteem and a sense of pride in their country. Such
self-reliance ,self esteem and sense of pride can be
developed through a variety of interventions at national,
regional and organisational levels. |
| The National
HRD Network functions through local Networks at the
regional and area levels and through its Executive Board
and its office at Ahmedbad and Hyderabad at the Apex
Level. A local Network may be started in a region or
city where there are not less than ten interested members.
Local Networks functions as autonomous groups and have
to register themselves as a Society under the required
status in their respective places. |
